STEM Student is selected as a NASA Scholar

Posted on August 14th, 2009 by admin in Uncategorized

Dr. Dana Clahane congratulates David Salazar, a Fullerton College Pre-Engineering major, who has been selected to participate in the National Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) program. This program is funded by NASA’s Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD) and administered by NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC). Click on the picture above for more information.  This provides the opportunity for selected community college students who are interested in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to participate in a summer web-based program.

Students who successfully complete the summer program and meet performance requirements are then considered for an all-expense paid 3-day onsite training program at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Oct.  Selected students for the JSC on-site program will attend engineer, scientist and astronaut briefings, tour NASA JSC, and interact with students from across the U.S.  The program is designed to encourage community college students to enter careers in science and engineering and ultimately join the nation’s highly technical workforce.
